Ode to the Day

Slowly she breaks out of her dark shell of despair,
the small cracks in the shell where friends have reached in to touch her heart with hope and laughter widen
The marks made by those medicos who assisted her
become deeper and dissolve the shell.

Strength and light flood her being

A whirlwind of joy and relief lift her from the disintegrating mass
that held her body, mind, soul & spirit captive for so many months.
Her opalescent wings still damp, she spreads them in the sun to dry.
It is not yet time to fly alone,
to dance among the winds and chase the dandelion fluff across the sky,

but soon, soon.........................................
